WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4) – In memory of 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway, who was abducted and murdered just blocks from her home, her family hopes to bring joy to other children.
Jessica’s mother and aunt both attended a short ceremony on Friday to represent Jessica’s short life.
Members of the Community Financing Credit Union donated $10,000 to the Jessica Ridgeway Legacy Foundation. Jessica’s mother and aunt say the money will be used to bring joy to other children in the community.
“We are already setting up plans to have a summer camp for children ages six to 12 through the Westminster city recreation (department),” said Rebecca Ridgeway, Jessica’s aunt. “So this summer we’re planning on having a one-week cheer camp for children.”
The family said the donation was a huge comfort to them because it means the community hasn’t forgotten about Jessica.
