DENVER (CBS4) – The flu started early this winter and it includes a strain that really takes a toll on folks.

Colorado is one of 47 states where the flu is widespread. There are 506 cases in Colorado, but that is expected to grow.

The flu may have peaked in some areas.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the flu shot is about 62 percent effective. That’s in line with recent flu vaccines. Doctors say it’s still not too late to get a flu shot.
