Thieves Hit Liquor Convenience Stores Along Front Range
ARVADA, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Arvada are working with other Denver metro area police departments to solve a string of "smash-and-grab" burglaries throughout the Front Range.
The suspects use a baseball bat to break into the stores after hours. They then grab alcohol and cigarettes before running away with their stash.
"They are in and out very quickly knowing their window of opportunity is small," said Arvada Police Detective Jeff Johnson.
On Jan. 3 a liquor store in Arvada was targeted by the thieves near midnight. Just 15 minutes later the suspects hit a store in Wheat Ridge.
The night before the suspects burglarized a store in Westminster.
Police believe these burglars are responsible for a total of 15 burglaries in the past month.
"Because they have a very distinct style of clothing, we are hoping that someone recognizes them," Johnson said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Arvada Police Department at 720.898.6900.
