Police: Suspect In Fatal Shooting During Standoff Got Guns Legally
AURORA, Colo. (AP) - Police say a man suspected of shooting and killing three people in a suburban Denver home before officers fatally shot him had legally bought all three of the weapons he used.
Aurora police say 33-year-old Sonny Archuleta is suspected of shooting 29-year-old Stacie Philbrook, 33-year-old Christopher Ratliffe and 56-year-old Anthony Ticali before barricading himself inside the home early Saturday. A woman identified by neighbors as his wife escaped.
After an exchange of gunfire, SWAT members entered the home to find Archuleta dead.
Police said Wednesday that Archuleta used a .40-caliber handgun, AR-15 rifle and pump-action shotgun that he had bought legally from licensed gun dealers. They say that based on his history, no state or federal law prohibited him from buying them.
