Fitness Tests Now Required For New Larimer County Deputies

LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - New sheriff's deputies in Larimer County will now have to pass physical fitness tests.

Recruits will have to run 1 1/2 miles in 15 1/2 minutes or less, do a 300-meter sprint in under 66 seconds, perform 25 push-ups in a minute, and do 30 sit-ups in under a minute.

Sheriff Justin Smith says this will help make sure deputies are prepared for the physical demands of their job.
