FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — Wes Eikmeier scored a season-high 21 points to lead Colorado State over St. Bonaventure 85-64 Saturday, extending its winning streak to seven games.
Dorian Green added 19 points, and Colton Iverson had 14 points and 12 rebounds, his sixth double-double of the season for Colorado State (13-2). Every player scored as the Rams improved to 9-0 at home and matched the school’s longest home winning streak at 22. Pierce Hornung had 13 rebounds.
Matthew Wright led St. Bonaventure (7-6) with 12 points. Charlon Kroof and Chris Johnson had 10 each for the Bonnies, who lost their third straight and fifth in a row on the road. Marquise Simmons had six rebounds.
It is only the second time in the six seasons under Mark Schmidt that the Bonnies have lost three in a row.
Things did not start out well for St. Bonaventure, which missed its first 10 shots from the field and trailed 19-3 seven minutes into the game. Wright ended the drought with a 3-pointer with 12:24, but by then, Eikmeier had 11 points, and the Bonnies trailed 19-6.
The lead was 43-19 after a reverse layup by Hornung and two free throws by Jon Octeus. Johnson provided some life for the Bonnies with two 3-pointers in the last 2:16 of the half, but St. Bonaventure trailed 46-28 at the half, their largest deficit at the break this season.
The Bonnies picked up their shooting in the second half, and Youssou Ndoyne’s basket off a strong inside move pulled them within 57-39. Iverson provided five points in an 8-0 run for Colorado State to get the lead to 65-39 with 11:28 remaining.
Iverson’s last basket of the game and a free throw by Green gave the Rams their biggest lead, 72-45, with 8:59 remaining. The Bonnies got no closer than 81-62 the rest of the way, despite making five, 3-pointers, two by Eric Mosley.
St. Bonaventure had given up 97, 92 and 93 points in its previous three games.
