Storm Dumps 19 Inches Of Snow In Colorado Mountains

DENVER (AP) — Weather forecasters in Colorado have issued a blizzard warning for the eastern plains as a storm moved east after dumping nearly 20 inches of snow in some western counties.

National Weather Service forecaster Kyle Fredin said Wednesday weather spotters reported 19 inches of snow in Craig in the northwest corner of the state. Nearby Rangely reported a foot of snow.

The Colorado Department of Transportation has closed Colorado Highway 65 near Grand Mesa on the Western Slope because of adverse conditions.

Forecasts call for up to 6 inches of snow along the Front Range, which is home to 4.1 million of Colorado’s 5 million residents.

Denver International Airport officials say blowing snow and low visibility is expected to cause delays Wednesday.
