Man Gets 414 Years In Prison In Connection With Motel Shooting

DENVER (CBS4) - A man has been sentenced to 414 years in prison for a shooting at a Denver motel last year.

Lynn Kimbrough with the district attorney's office said Scott Shorts, 44, was found guilty in the shooting death of 27-year-old Brandon Sigala at a motel at 26th Avenue and Zuni Street on Aug. 28, 2011.

"Shorts was found guilty earlier this year of second-degree murder, tampering with evidence, attempt to influence a public servant, and numerous drug charges," Kimbrough said in a statement.

Shorts was found to be an habitual offender and the judge ordered that his multiple conviction sentences be served consecutively.

"Sigala was with friends when they saw Shorts in an apparent domestic dispute with his wife. Sigala and his friends confronted Shorts, and Sigala was shot and killed moments later," Kimbrough said.
