DENVER (CBS4) – The Denver-based band The Lumineers is enjoying a breakout year in the music world, but they are keeping a cool head in the midst of the hype.
They were just nominated for two Grammys — in the best new artist category and for Best Americana Album — and over the weekend they appeared in KROQ’s Annual Almost Acoustic Christmas concert — a show featuring the likes of The Killers, Linkin Park and Jack White.
During an interview backstage at the concert the band members described what it was like being nominated for two Grammys:
“It’s like any other week, you know what I mean,” band member Wesley Schultz joked.
The Lumineers have been playing a lot of gigs as an opening band in the past year, but now that is starting to change.
“It’s only up until recently that we played for people who knew anything about us,” band member Jeremiah Fraites said.
Watch the complete interview with the Lumineers on KROQ’s website, and keep on eye on the Lumineers — they appear to be destined for great things.
