BASALT, Colo. (CBS4) – Cellphone technology helped police track down the suspects, but now charges have been dropped for one of two men arrested for home invasion robbery in Basalt.
James Ward Jr. was released from jail Tuesday. It came after investigators received sworn statements from Ward’s co-workers that he was at work at the time of the crime.
Ward told The Aspen Times he believes some of the stolen items found in his house were dropped off by the other suspect, Michael Hawkins.
Thieves broke into the home in Basalt and stole an iPhone with the “Find My Phone” app that led investigators to the stolen items.
