Mesa County School District Mails Anti-Pot Pamphlets

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) - A Mesa County school district has mailed more than 8,000 anti-marijuana pamphlets to parents in the wake of Colorado's pot legalization vote.

The (Grand Junction) Sentinel reports that District 51 used pamphlets provided by a group sponsored by the Church of Scientology.

Board members told the newspaper than most parents were glad for the 24-page pamphlet, titled "The Truth About Marijuana." The district sent 8,568 pamphlets to parents of every middle school and high school student in the school district. They were mailed Nov. 14, less than a month after Colorado voted to legalize marijuana.

The pamphlets were provided by the Foundation for a Drug-Free World is sponsored by the Church of Scientology. The church is not mentioned in the pamphlet.
