No Charges In False Reporting Of Baby In Dumpster

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Colorado Springs will not file charges against anyone involved with the false reporting of a baby found in a dumpster.

Police initially began their investigation Wednesday into a newborn that was allegedly found in a trash bin outside an apartment complex.

Police discovered on Wednesday that a baby reportedly found inside a trash bin was never inside the dumpster and was with her mother the entire time.

Police said a relative called police after the teen mother said she found the baby in a dumpster.

When officers arrived to investigate, it was determined that the 17-year-old did not find the infant, but actually gave birth to the child.

Police said the teen had successfully hidden her pregnancy from her family. After she gave birth on Wednesday, she concocted the story of finding the baby.

The Department of Human Services is actively involved with the baby and services are being provided to the baby's mother.
