COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Colorado Springs said that a baby reportedly found inside a trash bin was never inside the dumpster and was with her mother the entire time.
Police said a relative called police after the teen mother said she found the baby in a dumpster.
When officers arrived to investigate, it was determined that the 17-year-old did not find the infant, but actually gave birth to the child.
The teen may be facing charges of false reporting.
The child, believed to be between six and 12 hours old was falsely reported found inside a dumpster outside an apartment complex in north Colorado Springs.
Police said the baby has been placed in protective custody with the Department of Human Services.
