DENVER (CBS4)- Skaters can grab their skates and head to Skyline Park in downtown Denver and hit the ice for free.

Southwest Ice Rink is open in Skyline Park at 16th and Arapahoe and is free to skaters who bring their own skates.

Those who need to rent equipment can rent skates for just $2. This is the third year the ice rink will offer free skating.

The ice rink is more than just frozen water, there is also a stage for DJs and live music.

The rink also encourages everyone to sign up for broom ball leagues which begin in January 2013.
