CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4) – Santa got some help bringing toys and food to Colorado families in need over the weekend.
A team of Denver area pilots is took off from the Centennial Airport Sunday and made stops in several cities across the state. Waiting on the ground for each delivery were representatives from local posts of the VFW.
The Colorado Aviation Business Association partnered with the Metro Flight Team for the second year for the event, which involved 13 planes and 3,500 pounds of donated toys and non-perishable food.
Delivery locations were selected based on need.
“Let’s just use Alamosa as an example. They sometimes feel they’re forgotten down there,” said Colorado VFW spokesman Bob Davies. “And they tell me all the time they wish someone would pay attention to them. Boy, we’re going to do it this year.”
