Westminster Police Arrest Suspect In Bat Attack

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Westminster arrested a man Wednesday night who they believe attacked a teenage girl with a baseball bat last week and was also involved in a police chase.

Robert Crespin, 18, was wanted on several charges including kidnapping, vehicular eluding and third degree assault.

The attack happened at about 1 a.m. on Nov. 23 near the intersection of 92nd and Lowell. A witness told CBS4 he was with the girl when she was attacked. He said three or four suspects first drove up inside a cream colored van near the intersection and started breaking windows of nearby buildings. The witness said they tried to abduct her and also threatened him.

The girl was found beaten and bloody in an alley.

The suspects then led police on an extended chase that ended in Aurora at 13th and Peoria Street.

When the van stopped the suspects tried to run but two suspects were arrested immediately. A man police say was Crespin managed to get away.

Investigators said one of the suspects had a relationship with the teen victim but they did not elaborate on whether that was Crespin.

Crespin was being held in the Adams County Detention Facility on a $50,000 bond.
