DENVER (CBS4)- Tickets sales are surging as the Powerball jackpot grew to a record $550 million.
In the Denver metro area, people are buying Powerball tickets on a regular basis.
The Powerball jackpot has grown to such a large amount because the previous two months of drawings have not produced a winner.

The jackpot has defied long odds by rolling over 16 consecutive times without anyone hitting the big prize, which now stands at $550 million, $360 million cash value.
Powerball ticket holders are advised to sign the back of the ticket to protect themselves in case the ticket is lost or misplaced, then no one else can cash it.
The deadline to buy Powerball tickets for the $550 million jackpot is 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
