Denver Hoping To Host A Super Bowl

DENVER (CBS4)- The City of Denver and the Denver Broncos are tossing their football in the stadium for the possibility of hosting a future Super Bowl at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

According to Patrick Smyth, Executive Director of Media Relations for Denver Broncos Football Club, "We submitted an application with the NFL's Super Bowl Advisory Committee to bid on the 2018, '19 and '20 Super Bowls."

"Club President Joe Ellis officially submitted the application to bid on behalf of the team in late August.

"Pat Bowlen has always maintained an interest in bringing the Super Bowl to this community and the great football fans of the Rocky Mountain Region. He believes the city of Denver along with the Broncos would be excellent hosts," said Smyth.

"With the 2014 Super Bowl in New York/New Jersey, we are looking forward to observing how a cold-weather city with an outdoor stadium accommodates this extraordinary event."

Traditionally, Super Bowl host cities are chosen based on the stadiums that are equipped with covered or convertible covered domes.
