Mile High Holidays: Denver Boasts 50 Free Holiday Events

DENVER (CBS4) - You don't have to spend a lot to enjoy the holidays here in Colorado. CBS4 Critic at Large Greg Moody shared some of his favorite free ways to celebrate the holidays.

"Most of the free stuff involves looking," Moody said. "Looking is just about always free any time of the year."

There are the lights on the City and County Building, the Georgetown Christmas Market just up the road in Georgetown, and downtown Denver is filled with lights and window shopping from Larimer Square to the 16th Street Mall.

There are the New Year's fireworks, but there are also free days at the museums to enjoy -- Dec. 9 at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science; and Dec. 1 at the Denver Art Museum. They are free for the museums, but not for the special exhibits of Pompeii and Van Gogh.

Those are just a few of the ideas Moody rounded up. Find the complete list of 50 at the Mile High Holidays website. Also, visit the Mile High Holidays section for other inexpensive ideas for holiday fun.
