DENVER (CBS4)– It’s one of the great traditions of the holidays in the Mile High City- the Colorado Ballet presents The Nutcracker.
The ballet is performed each holiday season in the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in downtown Denver.
CBS4 Critic at Large Greg Moody said The Nutcracker is the ballet that introduced him to the beauty of dance.
The Nutcracker is a two-act ballet, originally choreographed by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov with a score by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
Moody said the ballet has just the right tone and spirit to catch those new to the art. He said the story has both wonder and action which helps keep audiences entranced.
This is the 52nd year that the ballet has produced its version of The Nutcracker.
This year’s production features sets and costumes by Jose Varona.
The Nutcracker presented by Colorado Ballet runs Nov. 24 through Dec. 24 in the Ellie Caulkins Opera House.
Tickets start at $28 but those usually sell out the fastest.
