DENVER (AP) – Colton Iverson had 16 points and 13 rebounds, leading Colorado State past cold-shooting Denver 60-53 Wednesday night.
Iverson, a 6-foot-10 transfer from Minnesota, was 6 for 11 from the field against the smaller Denver team.
Dorian Green added 16 points and Wes Eikmeier had 13 for the Rams (3-0), who outrebounded the Pioneers 47-33.
Chase Hallam scored 19 points and Royce O’Neale had 16 for Denver (1-3), which shot 30 percent from the field and was 5 for 29 on 3-pointers.
Denver is 2-17 in its last 19 games with the Rams.
The Pioneers trailed 54-41 with 2:15 remaining after Green hit a pull-up jumper for Colorado State. Denver used a 10-2 run to pull within 56-51 on a basket by Chris Udofia with 26 seconds left. O’Neale, who was 5 for 16 and 1 of 7 on 3-pointers, missed the game’s last two shots.
