Wheat Ridge Police Arrest Suspect In Weekend Homicide

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Wheat Ridge announced an arrest on Monday in the murder over the weekend of a 26-year-old father.

The victim's body was found stabbed late Saturday night in his front yard in the 4600 block of Miller Street.

Police arrested Nate Vernon Fischer, 25. He's being held at Jefferson County Jail.

The victim, identified as Howard Benjamin Adler, lived at the home with his roommates. The roommates reportedly came outside at about 11 p.m. to check on why dogs were barking. It was then that they found the man dead on the ground by a fence with multiple stab wounds.

"It's a drag because he was a cool guy," a neighbor told CBS4 on Sunday. "He had a kid, he liked doing stuff outside, he had a dragster. Just an overall good person."

The investigation is ongoing.
