KEYSTONE, Colo. (AP) – Arapahoe Basin Ski Area is coping with low stream flows that are affecting snowmaking.

The Summit Daily News reports snowmaking efforts are hampered by low flows in the North Fork of the Snake River.

Alan Henceroth says the resort is coping by having shorter but more efficient snowmaking sessions.

Jeff Lukas at the University of Colorado’s Western Water Assessment program says nearby rivers are flowing below average and are likely connected to drought conditions extending from last winter.

Other nearby ski areas, including Keystone and Copper Mountain, draw their water for snowmaking from other rivers and are unaffected.
