Girl Scout Leader Allegedly Confesses To Stealing From Her Troop

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (CBS4) - A girl scout troop leader on Colorado's Western Slope faces felony theft and false reporting charges after police say she confessed to stealing funds raised by her troop.

Mesa County Sheriff's officials said Carmen Jean Wysong, 27, was arrested on Tuesday and is being held at the county jail in Grand Junction.

Wysong's troop sold nearly 2,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies and raised $6,870 in this year's fundraiser, the Grand Junction Sentinel reported.

Police said Wysong reported her own thefts to authorities. They said she used the money to pay bills and buy food.

All of the girls in the troop have quit and the troop has been disbanded.
