Army Officer In Child-Sex Case Had Bronze Star

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - The Army says an officer from Alabama who faces child-sex charges in Colorado was previously awarded medals including the Bronze Star.

The Army released some of 1st Lt. Aaron G. Lucas' service record on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old Lucas was being held in the El Paso County jail in Colorado Springs on 21 counts including sexual assault on a child, enticement and indecent exposure.

He hasn't entered a plea. It wasn't clear whether he had an attorney.

Lucas is accused in three incidents in Colorado since 2011. He was arrested Oct. 23.

He's assigned to Fort Carson outside Colorado Springs. The Army didn't provide his hometown in Alabama or his deployment history.

His decorations include the Afghan Campaign Medal and the Bronze Star, which is awarded for heroic or meritorious achievement.
