Petraeus Paramour Has Degree From DU

DENVER (AP) - The woman who had an extramarital affair with then-CIA Director David Petraeus has a master's degree from the University of Denver and spoke at a the school last month.

A biography of Paula Broadwell on the university's website says she received a master's in international security in 2006.

She was a keynote speaker at the 2012 Alumni Symposium on Oct. 26-27, just two weeks before Petraeus resigned from the CIA and his affair with Broadwell was made public.

In her DU speech, Broadwell said the CIA had detained people at a secret facility in Libya, and the September attack on the U.S. Consulate there was an effort to free those prisoners. A CIA spokesman denied the assertion.

Broadwell also spoke at an Oct. 9 party in Denver honoring female GOP candidates for the Colorado Legislature, The Denver Post reported Monday.

Broadwell studied in DU's Josef Korbel School of International Studies, whose graduates also include Condoleezza Rice, a secretary of state and national security adviser for then-President George W. Bush.
