FRISCO, Colo. (AP) – Some Xcel Energy customers in Summit County were left without power and heat as a leaking gas pipeline was repaired.
Xcel asked customers to reduce their use of gas by lowering their thermostats and avoid using gas-fired appliances after a pipeline leak on Sunday. The repairs continued into Monday.
The Summit Daily News reported that the reductions weren’t enough, forcing Xcel to cut off power twice for 30 minutes at a time.
No more outages are planned.
Residents in Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper Mountain, Dillon, Silverthorne and Frisco were affected by the gas pipeline leak.
Wind chill values overnight plunged as low as minus 15.
