Police Investigate Link Between Gunman Who Shot At Officers

DENVER (CBS4)- Detectives from two different police departments in the Denver metro area are teaming up to investigate a possible link to a gunman who shot at officers.

The first shooting happened just after midnight Tuesday in Denver in the 4500 block of W. 1st Avenue. The second shooting was Wednesday in the 7200 block of Sheridan Blvd. in Westminster.

In both cases, officers pulled over a driver and he started shooting without saying a word.

Although no one was struck in that shooting, an officer was hit at the second shooting in Westminster.

"He's doing well. He was treated on scene for minor injuries, it was a graze but it could have been a lot worse," said Westminster Police Department spokesman Cheri Spottke.

Police are examining evidence left behind, like a bullet hole in a fence at the scene in Denver. Police in that instance did fire back but the driver sped away.

Police are asking anyone with information about the driver to call 911 immediately.

The gunman's car is described as a 2000 model year rust-colored Cadillac DeVille with South Dakota license plates, 49C AR9.

The man is described as Hispanic or Native American between 20-30 years old with long, dark hair.

Police said he is carrying a gun and should not be approached.
