BRIGHTON, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Brighton are investigating a rollover crash that claimed the life of one Prairie View High School student and injured three others.
At about 11:55 a.m. a red Toyota sedan occupied by the four students was traveling southbound on Highway 85 near 144th Ave. That’s when police believe the driver changed lanes to overtake another southbound vehicle.
After passing the other vehicle, the driver of the Toyota appeared to lose control as he moved back into his original lane, causing the car to roll multiple times and come to rest in the highway median.
One passenger was confirmed dead at the scene of the rollover. A second passenger was seriously injured and airlifted to an area hospital.
Two others in the car were rushed to the hospital by ambulance with less severe injuries.
The names of those killed or injured have not been released.
Highway 85 was closed during the accident investigation.
