CBS4's Gary Miller Answers Fans' Questions
Every week during CBS4's Football Preview show Gary Miller answers questions from fans. Below are this week's questions and Gary's answers.
Christopher: Gary, what will the Broncos do when D.J. Williams is eligible to return? Will they play him at middle linebacker?
Gary: The Broncos aren't saying. They will cross that bridge with they get to it, but D.J. never really like playing the middle. I expect them to break him in at outside linebacker. I wouldn't be surprised if within a few weeks he's getting plenty of playing time. Despite his off-the-field issues, D.J. is still a very good linebacker; a guy who figures to help the Broncos down the stretch. Our friend Jeff Legwold also believes the Broncos could even play some 3-4 to get D.J. on the field more often.
Jose: Gary, do you think Champ Bailey gets frustrated that week after week opposing quarterbacks don't throw his way?
Gary: Jose, I didn't want to speak for Champ, so I did something crazy -- I asked him your question. He said he did get frustrated early in his career when it became obvious quarterbacks were going to throw the ball his way. In recent years he's been able to accept it more and is happy to play whenever he can. He told me at times he gets a little antsy when he doesn't get much action.
Paige: Gary, I heard the Broncos fly to all the away games on Fridays. Is that true? Do they like spending that much time on the road?
Gary: Paige, they leave on Friday, especially when they fly east because they have to play an early game … John Fox believes it helps the players get acclimated to the different surroundings … The players don't really like it because it's a whole lot of downtime in the hotel on Saturday and also a night away from home. But let's not tell that coach that; that's just between you and me.
