DENVER (AP) — A former Denver attorney accused of racketeering, securities fraud and theft has turned himself in.

James W. Faber was accompanied by attorney Christopher Davlin when he surrendered Thursday. Davlin says Faber will vigorously defend his innocence in court. Davlin says he is only temporarily representing Faber pro bono and that Faber will be requesting a public defender.

An indictment alleges that between 2006 and 2010, Faber asked people to give him money that he said would be invested in the exploration of mining and natural resources. Instead, Faber is accused of using the money for other purposes, including business expenses and to pay former investors.
