Man Found Guilty In Death Of 3-Year-Old Boy
CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4)- Jurors found Theodore Madrid guilty of first degree murder in the death of his then girlfriend's three-year-old son.
Madrid was also found guilty of two counts of child abuse resulting in death by the Arapahoe County District Court jury.
Madrid was babysitting Caden Rodgers in January 2011 while the boy's mother was at work.
Police said Madrid threw Caden across a room, likely slamming his head on a bed frame and waited an hour and a half before calling 911 for medical assistance.
An arrest affidavit states Madrid told Aurora police that he was drunk and high on marijuana when the incident happened.
Caden died two days later. The coroner determined the official cause of death to be severe brain injury due to blunt force trauma.
Madrid will be sentenced in January 2013.
