DENVER (CBS4) – Thousands of people got their exercise early Saturday morning at the annual Step Out: The Walk To Stop Diabetes.
There was something new this year — a 10K run in addition to the 5K walk at the Downtown Aquarium.
The event is especially important to those who are battling diabetes or know someone who is.

“I love to run. Plus this is special to me, I have Type 1 diabetes,” blind runner Kerry Kuck said. “This is what I do to stay healthy.”
“My husband is a Type 1 diabetic and I run for him,” Heather Harris said. “It’s very important for both of us.”
CBS4 is a proud sponsor of Step Out. It raises money for diabetes treatment and research.
