PUEBLO, Colo. (CBS4) – A Pueblo man says he was just trying to scare off some trespassers when he fired a shot at them. Now one of those men is dead and the shooter is facing charges.

On Wednesday morning deputies arrested Dennis Pratt. They say on Tuesday night he fired what he calls a warning shot.

Three men walked onto his property, and one of them was hit in the chest and died.

Pratt has a history of intruders and has complained about thefts in the past.

This time he says he was hiding out and hoping to catch the intruders.

He fired after spotting a flashlight.
