DENVER (CBS4) – A car was sheared in half in a hit-and-run Monday night and police have someone in custody.
It happened shortly before 10 p.m., and debris from the collision spread all across parking lots nearby.
Police told CBS4 the driver was speeding down Sheridan, slammed into the car that was heavily damaged, and then kept driving.
The driver then got out a few blocks away and ran but was soon arrested by Denver police. He is suspected of DUI.
“By the looks of the car, if somebody was in the back seat they clearly would have been thrown, because the whole top of the car was just annihilated,” witness David Sena said.
The driver whose car was hit was taken to the hospital but does not have life threatening injuries.
So far the names of the people involved haven’t been released.
