LITTLETON, Colo. (CBS4) – Ranger patrols along the South Platte River are keeping an extra eye out after a bicyclist was injured after running over barbed wire.
The incident happened Sunday on the Mary Carter Greenway Trail in South Platte Park, just north of West Mineral Avenue. It was near the Carson Nature Center parking lot near Aspen Grove in Littleton.
The barbed wire was tied between two sign posts and was sitting about one foot above the ground.
The woman didn’t see the wire and crash her bike. Some people saw the incident and helped her. She went home and another person recommended she call police.
The Littleton Police Department and South Suburban Parks and Recreation are investigating the incident as a serious threat to public safety.
Police don’t have any suspects at this time. Anyone with information should contact Littleton police at (303) 795-3890.
