GOP Headquarters In Aspen Egged For Third Time

ASPEN, Colo. (CBS4) - Aspen police are investigating after the Republican Party headquarters for Pitkin County was egged for the third time.

Police say vandals hit the home either late Friday or early Saturday morning and police were contacted during the day on Saturday. Smashed eggs covered all the windows on each side of the Victorian home where the office is.

An egg carton was found on the ground, which was turned over to police, Party chair Frieda Wallison told CBS4. She said the carton was a City Market large grade-A variety.

Wallison said the egging incidents are seemingly getting worse each time, and that police have said they would heighten patrols around the area.

The busy activity at the party office wasn't interrupted by the incident.

Wallison told the Aspen Daily News that she also ran into some more antagonizing behavior towards the GOP on Saturday while working at the Republican stand at the Aspen farmer's market. She said some teenagers convinced her to give them a Romney/Ryan T-shirt after claiming not to have enough money to afford the suggested $15 donation price.

Later, she said some people at the market saw one of the teens wearing the shirt but on the back they had written with marker "Save Big Bird," a reference to Mitt Romney's statement during the presidential debate in Denver about cutting PBS funding. On the front, under the Romney/Ryan lettering was written "Is Hate." Wallison called the behavior "very disheartening."

So far Wallison hasn't decided how she's going to get all the egg off the building.
