DENVER (CBS4) – The University of Denver will host the first presidential debate of this campaign season on Wednesday night, and CBS4 will be providing special coverage.
At 5:30 p.m. Scott Pelley will anchor the CBS Evening News from Denver.
At 6 p.m. CBS4 will feature a special previewing the debate. Jim Benemann and Karen Leigh will anchor the one-hour special live from the University of Denver, with special interviews and analysis previewing the debate. Pelley will make a special appearance during the special.
Jim Lehrer of PBS NewsHour will be moderating the debate between President Barack Obama and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, which starts at 7 p.m.
Domestic policy is the theme of the debate. It will feature six time segment that each will last approximately 15 minutes. The topics will be as follows:
- The Economy – I
- The Economy – II
- The Economy – III
- Health Care
- The Role of Government
- Governing
After the debate, CBS4 Political Specialist Shaun Boyd will do a Reality Check of the debate on CBS4 News at 10 p.m.
