Suspect In Deadly Hit & Run Formally Charged

DENVER (CBS4) - A man accused in a deadly hit-and-run on South Broadway has been formally charged.

Lynn Kimbrough from the district attorney's office said Dennis Esquibel, 25, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and vehicular homicide.

"The charges allege that at about 1 a.m. on Sept. 23, Esquibel was driving southbound on Broadway at a high rate of speed when he hit the victim, a pedestrian, at the intersection of Broadway and Cedar Avenue. The charges further allege he fled the scene," Kimbrough said in a statement.

Police said Esquibel ditched the car, which was later found in the 1300 block of South Jason Street,

Esquibel remains in custody. His bond is set at $100,000. He is scheduled back in court on Thursday.
