DENVER (CBS4) – A new iPhone app that’s part of the “Tie One On For Safety” campaign is making it easier to hail a taxi cab.
The free app is called “Metro Taxi.” Mothers Against Drunk Driving is partnering with Metro Taxi in hopes of keeping drunk drivers off the road. Through the app customers can order a cab and track its progress on their smartphone.
Denver Mayor Michael Hancock says he is confident the app will make roads safer.
“We all are app driven now, and so I’m excited about the fact that we can add it to one area where we have been working to combat, and that is drunk driving on the street and people who need a safe ride where they need to go,” Hancock said.
Mothers Against Drunk Driving says they hope the app will keep roads safer during the holiday season when typically there are so many accidents.
