JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Jefferson Counties Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a suspect wanted in a series of thefts.
There have been 64 break-ins in the county so far for September. That is a 50 percent increase compared to September 2011.
All the break-ins were committed at night on unlocked vehicles with no signs of forced entry. The majority were committed in clusters with 40 crimes committed from the 13th to the 16th.
Deputies believe the suspect or suspects are simply going down the street and trying doors. When they find one that is unlocked, they search it for valuable and are on to the next one in a matter of seconds.
Items stolen include anything of perceived value, including laptops, GPS units, wallets and purses, tools, cell phones and cash.
Everyone is urged to lock their cars and to report any suspicious activity immediately.
