DENVER (CBS4) – The Denver Dumb Friends League is hoping to reunite a tortoise with her owners.

The female tortoise was found wandering near Picadilly and Maxwell. The league thinks she’s an African spurred tortoise, usually found in the Sahara Desert.

The tortoises can live to be 100 years old. The league believes she’s probably about 10 years old. She weighs 40 pounds.

“Most fables imply that tortoises move rather slow. This one can whip around, which is most likely why it got out before people realized it was gone,” a Dumb Friends League official said.
