Serial Groper Strikes Again, This Time Near DU

DENVER (CBS4) - A man has been going around accosting women. It's happened seven times in seven different areas of Denver. On Monday police were able to link the crimes to one person.

Police have released a sketch of the man believed to be fondling strangers.

The last attack happened to a teenage girl. On Sunday a 911 call came in from a neighborhood just east of the University of Denver campus. A young girl was walking in an alley behind some homes and someone inside a home was looking out his window and saw what happened.

"It's a little creepy," Alison Silver said. "I think he's pretty daring to just walk up to people and do it."

Silver is surprised by what is happening in her neighborhood, but she's not nearly as surprised as members of the household who were looking out on the alley watching a man grope a young girl Sunday afternoon.

"The guy came out of his car and grabbed her butt," a young girl who lives in the home said. "My brother and my nanny called 911 because they were home and they watched the incident happen … I'm scared to go outside now."

There were two incidents in the Country Club neighborhood, one near 37th and Newton, another on the 2100 block of West 31st. He approached a woman at 1600 East Kentucky and another report from Kentucky and South Ogden; and finally the one in the DU neighborhood.

"We'll just have to watch for him," Marcia MacDougall said.

MacDougall has lived in the DU neighborhood for decades and she isn't about to be intimidated by the man police refer to as a serial groper.

"I'll keep my shovel handy," she said.

Police say the man is Hispanic and drives an older model dark colored Nissan car.
