IRVINE, Calif. (AP) – A Southern California man arrested in Colorado has been indicted by an Orange County Grand Jury for last month’s fatal shooting of his 60-year-old father at the Irvine home the men shared.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office says Steven Joseph Bruno was indicted Monday on one felony count of murder. If convicted he faces a maximum sentence of 50 years to life in prison.
Bruno, 21, was arrested Aug. 31 in Sterling, Colo., after he was stopped by that state’s highway patrol.
He was returned to California over the weekend and is being held without bail.
Authorities believe Bruno killed his father, Ernest Bruno, on Aug. 30 in a dispute over money.
Family members found the victim’s body the next day.
