SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Chandler Jones caught a pair of touchdown passes in the fourth quarter to help San Jose State pull away for a 40-20 victory over Colorado State on Saturday night.
Jones caught a 43-yard scoring pass from Kyle Nunn to make it 33-20 with 9:39 left and a 51-yarder from David Fales with 7:56 left to put things in control of the Spartans (2-1).
Fales completed 27 of 34 passes for 370 yards and three TDs. Jones was one of three receivers to have 100 or more yards. He had six catches for 133 yards, Noel Grigsby had seven for 124 and Jabari Carr had 8 for 108 and two TDs.
Colorado State (1-2) got a good effort from quarterback Garrett Grayson, who was 24 of 42 for 297 yards and two TDs. He was, however, sacked five times.
