Person Escapes From Burning Home In Parker

PARKER, Colo. (CBS4) - One person is okay after escaping from a burning house early Friday morning in Parker.

Firefighters found smoke coming from the basement and managed to get crews out just before the floor collapsed.

"When they entered the home they found heavy fire and smoke in the basement. It did extend into some other areas of the home. They were in there for about 3-5 minutes putting the fire out. Then they had to pull out because the floor above them was getting weak," said South Metro Fire spokeswoman Becky O'Guin.

The fire broke out at about 4:30 a.m. inside a home at 17071 Cornerstone Lane.

About 25 firefighters quickly responded to the home in the Stonegate neighborhood.

The fire sent a lot of black smoke into the air.

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
