TRINIDAD, Colo. (AP) — A search team is on the way to the wreckage of a plane that apparently crashed west of Trinidad in southern Colorado.
The Las Animas County crew was hiking into the remote, mountainous area on Friday, a day after the Colorado Civil Air Patrol located the wreckage. The air patrol flew over the area to check out a report of a signal from an emergency locator transmitter.
Colorado Civil Air Patrol Maj. Ed O’Brien said the wreckage could be that of a missing North Carolina plane. The site is along that plane’s intended flight path.
