Dre The Pit Bull (credit: CBS)
BRIGHTON, Colo. (CBS4) – A family pet is back home after a run-in with police.
A pit bull named “Dre” was taken away from its owners after charging officers and showing aggressive behavior.
The city of Brighton threatened to euthanize the dog after an investigation also showed Dre bit someone in a previous attack.
The dog’s owner, Mary O’Brien, was able to take Dre home after agreeing to a plea deal. O’Brien will be required to follow animal care guidelines until Dre receives a Canine Good Citizen Certification.
More than 68,000 people signed a petition asking for Dre’s release.
