Neighbor Dispute Leads To Man Being Shot In Gilpin County

GILPIN COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Investigators in Gilpin County say a neighbor dispute sent one person to the hospital.

The incident happened Thursday night on Deer Circle, a rural area near Black Hawk. Two neighbors got in some sort of a disagreement.

Around 7 p.m. the sheriff's office got a call of two trespassers. The Gilpin County Sheriff's Office is only one block away from the house, but by the time deputies arrived a 30-year-old man was shot in the chest.

The man is said to be in stable condition. Daniel Thomas, 57, who rents the property, was arrested. He will be in court on Monday to face formal charges, which are still being determined by the district attorney's office.

Investigators are still trying to find out what the two men were fighting about and if it was truly a trespassing incident because there are two residences on the property.
