Neighbors In Lone Tree Shocked By News Of Babysitter Arrest

LONE TREE, Colo. (CBS4) - Residents of a Lone Tree neighbors say they are anxious for police to release more information about the arrest of a babysitter on sex assault charges.

Police this week arrested Chantella Lucero, 22, on tentative charges of sexually assaulting the child in her care.

Lucero was processed and booked into the Douglas County Jail after she and the child she was caring for were interviewed by police on Tuesday. Police haven't said whether the child is a boy or a girl and they haven't said how old he or she is.

The suspect lives in an apartment complex that has many children living there. Her neighbors at the Remington Apartments told CBS4 Lucero lives with her father and her sister.

Brandy Cone has a six-year-old daughter who picks up her school bus right next to the suspect's apartment.

"She walks by herself. So knowing that makes me nervous. Especially since she walks right next to the building," Cone said.

Carolyn Frazier, another neighbor, told CBS4 she'll be keeping a closer watch on her grandchildren and other children in the area in the wake of the incident.

"Hopefully it's an isolated incident," Frazier said. "There's a lot of good people that live her and it's a shame that one has to give a bad name to the whole place."

Robert Peterson said he was shocked to learn of the allegations.

"Crime really has no address," he said. "It could happen anywhere. Lone Tree is a great community."
